Leading American padel operator Padel Haus is to open its third (and largest) permanent venue in New York City – and will then switch focus to expanding across the US.
Padel Haus Greenpoint will open its doors in October and will be the company’s latest facility in Brooklyn following on from its first site in Williamsburg which opened in July 2022, and the spectacular open-air Padel Haus Domino Park (pictured above) which opened in August 2023.
The 20,000-square-foot Padel Haus Greenpoint will open at 12 Berry Street (on the cross street with North 13th Street), neighbouring the popular 35-acre McCarren Park, which is a renowned hub for community activities and sport, including soccer, baseball and tennis on the border of the fashionable Greenpoint and Williamsburg districts.
The launch of Padel Haus Greenpoint will bring padel to another new district of New York, one with a diverse, cosmopolitan population that reflects the sport’s international status.
It is also a much closer destination to players commuting from Long Island City, Queens and the well-known Upper East Side in Manhattan (through the mid-town tunnel).
As a sign of Padel Haus’ ambitions to propel the sport further, Padel Haus Greenpoint will be the company’s largest club to date, with five indoor courts as well as the juice bar ‘Juice Haus’, premium locker rooms and rain showers. The club will have nearly 28-feet-high-ceilings.
Santiago Gomez, Founder CEO of Padel Haus, said: “We are delighted to announce the impending arrival of our latest club in New York City. With this excellent location in front of McCarren Park, we are solidifying our position as the premier operator of padel clubs in New York City with a total of 16 courts and, importantly, bringing padel to New Yorkers in the way it should be played – as a true, modern lifestyle, athletics and wellness offering befitting this great city.”
As former New York Times award-winning restaurateur Santiago told us in an interview in May 2023, his plans for Padel Haus go beyond the confines of NYC.
Now, he says: “The opening of our Greenpoint club marks the closing of the door for us opening further sites in Brooklyn, as we now turn our attention to national expansion.
“In the 18 months since we brought padel to New York City for the first time, we have seen a surge in demand for this exhilarating sport. New Yorkers are waking up to see just what this sport has to offer, and why it’s the fastest-growing sport worldwide. This is an exciting time for padel in the U.S. and we are thrilled to be a driving force.”
