Brits Christian Medina Murphy and Abigail Tordoff were home winners at last weekend’s R3 Bullpadel Cup at Surbiton Racket and Fitness Club in London.

The Grade 1 event was part of the LTA Padel British Tour and saw Medina Murphy partner with Spaniard Alberto Garcia Jimenez in the men’s draw where they ultimately faced second seeds Tom Farquharson and Sam Jones in the final.

The British-Spanish team secured a 6-2, 6-4 victory to claim the R3 Bullpadel Cup title. The pair didn’t drop a set in their run to the title, and didn’t even lose a single game until the semi-finals.

Medina Murphy, who currently world No.105, said: “It was amazing to play here at this great venue. Sam and Tom played at a really good level, they are doing a really good job. I think we played really solid at the beginning of the second set when they started to play well, but we kept going, found a way to play, and win. We are really happy.”

Recent FIP Bronze Kuala Lumpur champion Abigail Tordoff continued her strong form, this time pairing with Baharak Soleymani from Sweden. The second seeds battled top seeds Catherine Rose, GB no.2, and Nelida Brito from Argentina, in a tightly contested final, ultimately emerging victorious with a 6-4, 6-7(2), 6-2 win.

British No.5 Tordoff reflected: “This was the first time playing with Bara and we were really happy with our level. The final was a great match, really tough with the sun and wind but so pleased that we managed to get the win.”

Sam Kemp, R3 Tournament Director, said: “We were blessed with perfect weather, an incredible venue and a crowd like we’ve never seen before. The Surbiton members turned out in force and created a fantastic atmosphere. It was inspiring to see such a high level of padel on display, especially with so many British players performing brilliantly.

“Congratulations to the winners and a huge thank you to Surbiton Racket and Fitness club, our dedicated officials, and our amazing partners – your support was instrumental in making this event such a standout success.”

The competition in South West London was the third LTA Grade 1 event of 2025 to take place across England, Scotland and the Channel Islands as part of the British Tour, which encompasses the top padel competitions in Great Britain.

Grade 1 events see the very best British players and international competitors competing in standout events, across full weekends, for prize money. Acceptance onto British Tour events is based on players’ LTA Padel Ranking. This LTA Grade 1 event also marked the first time an LTA tournament has been televised on Padel TV.
