GB’s elite padel players will reassemble in Madrid for the FIP World Cup European qualifiers in September following their heroics at last week’s London Premier Padel P1.
Padel’s world governing body FIP has announced that the European qualification tournament for November’s World Cup in Doha will take place at Pádel G24 club in the Spanish capital from 22-26 September.
In Madrid, 55 national teams from 29 countries will compete across the men’s and women’s events for four places (two men’s, two women’s) in the FIP World Cup draw.
Great Britain will feature in both the men’s and women’s draws, where the likes of Aimee Gibson, Catherine Rose, Christian Medina Murphy, Louie Harris and Tia Norton will seek to qualify for the main event in Doha. The LTA will announce team selections in due course.
Teams participating in FIP World Cup European qualifying
Of the 29 countries competing in Madrid, 26 will field both a men’s and a women’s team, while three countries will compete in the qualifiers with only a men’s team: Belgium and the Netherlands (who are already qualified for the women’s final stage) and Monaco.
Men’s teams: Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Georgia, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Kosovo, Lithuania, Moldova, Monaco, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland, Türkiye, Ukraine.
Women teams: Austria, Azerbaijan, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Georgia, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Kosovo, Lithuania, Moldova, Norway, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland, Türkiye, Ukraine.
Teams already qualified for FIP World Cup Final Stage
Men: Argentina (defending champions), Spain, Portugal, Italy, United Arab Emirates, Brazil, France, Chile, Sweden, Qatar (host country), United States and Mexico (qualified).
Women: Spain (defending champions), Argentina, Italy, Portugal, the Netherlands, Sweden, France, Brazil, Belgium, Qatar (host country), United States (qualified).
FIP World Cup 2026 format
The FIP World Cup 2026 in Doha will feature 32 national teams in total, 16 men’s and 16 women’s.
In the men’s event, 12 places have already been allocated: nine to the highest-ranked nations at the last World Championship (2024), one to Qatar as the host country and two to the United States and Mexico, who secured their places at the FIP World Cup Qualifiers – North and Central America.
In the women’s event, the 10 teams already qualified automatically (the top nine from the 2024 edition, plus Qatar) have been joined by the United States.
The Madrid event represents another key step towards completing the line-up of national teams that will travel to Doha.
Following the qualifiers already held in North and Central America, Asunción, Paraguay, will host the South American Qualifier from 20 to 22 August, with two places in the women’s draw and one in the men’s draw at stake.
Following the European event, the Africa–Asia qualifiers will bring the qualification process to a close, with one place available in each draw.
