The Hexagon Amateur League, a new national team-based padel competition for players of all levels across the UK, is to begin in September.
The competition is inspired by the format of the popular Hexagon Cup in Madrid and aims to bring the same energy and structure to local clubs across the country.
Open to any UK-based padel club, the competition will feature three ranked divisions, regional fixtures, and a season-long league system, culminating in a high-profile Finals Day in December 2025.
Winners of each division will participate in the Road to Hexagon, giving them the possibility of playing during the Hexagon Cup 2026 in Madrid to feel like a real pro. The aim is to create the UK’s most inclusive and entertaining grassroots padel competition to date.

A celebratory Hexagon Amateur League launch event took place at The Padel Hub in Epsom last week, bringing together 12 invited amateur teams for a showcase tournament. Several of the teams are backed by prominent brands and public figures, reflecting the ownership model in the professional Hexagon Cup.
Among the well-known names and brands supporting the teams were Chelsea legend John Terry, Sky Sports (including former Premier League stars, Roberto Di Matteo and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink alongside Sky presenters Gail Davis and Jo Wilson), Hexagon Cup, Femme UK and Slazenger, with additional teams from sporting icons or TV personalities, such as media personality Kem Cetinay.
The day featured competitive matches, DJ sets, exclusive prizes and a chance to get on court with Team GB padel players — setting the tone for what’s in store when the national league begins this autumn.
The launch of the Hexagon Amateur League in the UK follows on from the recent announcement of the wider International Amateur Padel League (LAPI) and the creation of the “Road to Hexagon” – a team experience that seeks to bring the amateur and professional sides of the sport closer than ever before by affording the winners of the new league the chance to rub shoulders with world padel stats at Hexagon Cup in 2026.

Astrid Thams, Managing Director of the Hexagon Cup, commented: “The vision of the Hexagon Amateur League is to bring the energy, innovation and team spirit of the Hexagon Cup to everyday padel players, and represents a further step in our commitment to the growth of padel under our mantra of ‘For the Fans. For the Players. For the Game.’
“Padel is growing fast across the UK, and we want to help clubs and communities tap into that momentum by allowing their players to experience it from the inside. We are on a mission to make the game more accessible, more exciting, and more connected from grassroots to the global stage. That’s what we believe the launch of the UK Hexagon Amateur League will achieve.”
Pedro Clavería, Co-founder of Playtomic, added: “The UK has proven itself to be one of the most social padel nations today, and so we believe the timing is perfect to launch the Hexagon Amateur League. At Playtomic, we are committed to making padel an increasingly fun and accessible experience, and to continue to drive the global expansion of our sport. We are excited about what this project will achieve for amateur padel in one of the world’s most passionate racquet sports nations.”
The Hexagon Amateur League follows the second edition of the Hexagon Cup in Madrid earlier this year, where over 30,000 fans packed into the Madrid Arena and more than two million people tuned in via YouTube.
