Over three quarters of planned padel courts in the UK are indoors or covered — just one insight in a new report from independent market intelligence company Leisure DB.

Leisure DB’s report, ‘The Rise of UK Padel Brands: Market Report (Multi-Site Operators)’, confirms that the UK padel market has entered a period of unprecedented expansion.

Its research tracks 188 operational and 96 planned padel sites across 47 multi-site operators, confirming that the number of facilities has more than doubled in the past two years.

With nearly 100 openings forecast by the end of the year, the UK is expected to exceed 200 multi-site operator venues heading into 2026.

Indoor development is becoming the dominant trend, with over three-quarters of planned courts set to be indoors or covered, reflecting a shift toward year-round commercial models.

Regionally, investment is expanding well beyond early strongholds in London and the South East, with the West Midlands emerging as the fastest-growing region and Northern Ireland beginning to show early signs of market activation.

David Lloyd Clubs remains the UK’s largest padel operator by scale, followed by Game4Padel (the largest pay-and-play operator) and the rapidly growing The Padel Club, which now sits third based on total open and planned sites.

Jamie Buck, Head of Research at Leisure DB, said: “Padel in the UK has reached a tipping point. The pace of growth we’re seeing in 2024–2025 is unlike anything witnessed in the previous decade.

“Operators are expanding beyond their traditional regions, indoor courts are becoming the default format, and competition is increasing as new brands enter the market.

“What was once a niche activity is now establishing itself as a core part of the UK’s leisure landscape.”

The report also includes the UK’s first complete directory of all 47 multi-site padel operators, alongside operator rankings, regional analysis, and a full historical growth timeline from 2013 to 2025.
