Connect Padel UK, a new UK operator fronted by Golden Globe-nominated actress Lily James, has committed to 1,000 free court hours per year for children from disadvantaged communities.

Connect Padel UK’s first location is due to be announced next week and the operator’s founder Charlie Thomson had little problem getting Mamma Mia! star Lily on board as an investor and global ambassador as she is his sister.

The UK industry newcomer is promising “state-of-the-art facilities, expert coaching, and a vibrant community atmosphere” at its forthcoming clubs and aims to make padel “more accessible, affordable, engaging and social for players of all levels.”

Lily, Connect Padel UK Global Ambassador, said: “It’s incredibly exciting to announce Connect Padel UK to the world. Padel is a sport that brings people together. I believe we are at the forefront of creating welcoming environments for everyone to enjoy and improve their game.

“From the moment I first picked up a padel racket I fell in love with the sport. Through Connect Padel UK I want to ensure that padel is accessible to everyone, in particular for women and girls.

“We want Connect Padel UK to support and champion local communities and players of all levels, from schools, to parents, to casual players and professionals all over the UK. Let’s connect!”

At each of their sites, Connect Padel UK will offer professional coaching for beginners and advanced players, community-driven events, tournaments and social leagues, plus accessible and inclusive programs to welcome new players.

Connect Padel UK Founder, Charlie Thomson, said: “We’re incredibly proud to launch Connect Padel UK, driven by a fundamental commitment to make padel accessible to everyone.

“At Connect Padel UK, we’re about three things – providing top-quality facilities at affordable prices, building vibrant communities that bring players together both on and off the court, and ultimately getting more people to play padel.

“A key part of this is offering 1,000 hours of free court time annually to local schools and charities. This initiative is about breaking down barriers and ensuring countless new people can experience this fantastic sport.
