Padel Box is launching what it claims is the first padel ladder in London at its club in South Bermondsey.

Members at the five-court club, which opened in January last year, have helped develop an app to run a six-month rolling competition format open to players of all levels.

Pairs are initially placed based on their average Playtomic level, and from there they can challenge up to three places above them on the ladder. Players organise their own matches around their schedules, with results moving teams up or down the rankings.

The Padel Box Ladder is designed to create regular, competitive games with opponents at the right level, while allowing players to track their progress over time.

When the ladder launches in April, it will feature social elements such as uploading a picture of your game when you input your scores, so the club’s community can see how everyone else is getting on.

Competitive platforms within many of Britain’s padel clubs take the form of one-off tournaments, box leagues or organised socials, but the Padel Box Ladder introduces an ongoing, season-long structure where players can play regularly, see their ranking evolve, and gradually climb the table.

The aim is to create consistent match play and a friendly healthy rivalry within the club community.

Rebecca Morris, Padel Box’s Marketing Director, told The Padel Paper: “What’s really fun is this has come about from our members. We’ve worked with them to develop the idea, discuss the format and build the app.

“To the best of our knowledge, this is the first structured padel ladder format being run at a club in London.”

Players can sign up for the ladder now and play officially begins at the beginning of April.
