Play Padel Group is set to launch its second club at Sheffield’s famous Meadowhall shopping centre at the end of October.
Play Padel Group counts England Test captain Joe Root, Olympic heptathlon champion Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill and Bradford City goalkeeper Cameron Dawson amongst its shareholders.
The group opened its first venue at Sheffield’s venerable Abbeydale Sports Club in April 2025.
Its second facility at the iconic Meadowhall will open with eight competition-grade indoor courts (one singles and seven doubles), coaching for all from day one, tournaments, cafe, bar, warm-up gym and changing rooms.
Play Padel will also be offering 100 Founding Memberships at £99 for 12 months, giving players 20% off court bookings and increasing the booking window from 14 days to 21 days.
Alex Fleming, Founder and CEO of Play Padel Group, said: “Our first venue, Play Padel Sheffield, showed us what’s possible.
We’re a Sheffield founded business, built by Sheffield people, and the community got behind us from day one. Meadowhall is the next step, but it won’t be the last.
“We’ve got big ambitions to bring padel to venues right across the UK, and everything we’ve learned in Sheffield goes into making each new club even better. As an operator, we’re just getting started.”
Darren Pearce, centre director at Meadowhall, said: “We’re really looking forward to the opening of Play Padel Meadowhall next month, it’s always important for us to support businesses founded in Sheffield and we’re proud to be part of their next chapter.
“Padel is one of the fastest-growing sports in the country, and with eight new competition-grade indoor courts launching, there’ll be even more opportunities for people across the city and region to get involved.”
