Tennis Scotland is to host the inaugural Scottish Open Padel Championships at Racket Barn in Glasgow from 18-20 September.
Marking a significant milestone in the growth of padel in Scotland, the Scottish Open Championships will feature a total prize fund of £4000 and LTA British Tour Grade One ranking points on offer.
The event is set to attract leading men’s and women’s players from across Scotland, Great Britain and beyond as they bid to make history by becoming Scottish national champions.
Also at Racket Barn, the fourth annual Padel Scottish Cup will reach its conclusion when Finals Day takes place on 6 September – following weeks of club vs club knockout action around Scotland.
With more than 80 courts and more in the pipeline, padel’s growth in Scotland is following the same trends as the rest of Britain. Tennis Scotland support venues, players and the workforce as the sport continues to grow.
Looking ahead to the Scottish Open Championships, Tennis Scotland Chief Executive Blane Dodds said: “The best players from around the country will not only have the chance to earn ranking points and prize money – they can also make history by becoming national champions.
“As one of the world’s fastest growing sports, padel is rapidly gaining momentum in Scotland, with more players, courts, and competitions than ever before. These upcoming events will help showcase padel to wider audiences and we’re looking forward to some top-quality action.”
