Padel’s growth shows no signs of slowing down – in fact, in some countries it doesn’t even stop when it reaches the coastline!
Padel on water is an intriguing new trend within the industry, with Kuwait-based Pano Padel Academy erecting a court on a ship and holding padel coaching sessions whilst cruising around the Persian Gulf.
Sweden-based Instantpadel supplied and erected the court on a ship in a partnership project with a tourists’ boat trips company and Pano Padel, one of many padel facilities in Kuwait City.
In Stockholm, a floating two-court padel facility with snack bar, spectators’ benches, changing rooms, toilets and equipment hire shop sails to different locations around the city and is moored up ready for play.
Constructed by Rocket Padel and launched in the summer of 2021, Stockholm Sea Padel offers catering and events packages.
In Dubai, which is experiencing a padel boom, two floating padel courts have been built on the man-made lake at Jumeirah Lake Towers by Swedish company Padelx.
Accessible via a footbridge, the two courts are rooted in the lake bed but surrounded by water on all sides. Courts can be booked on the Playtomic app and are also used for corporate events.
“An active lifestyle should be fun, and this court is a testament to that,” said Sofie Kallstrom, Padelx chief executive.
