Padel’s journey to nationwide awareness hits the fast lane this weekend when the sport is showcased at Silverstone for the British Grand Prix.
The LTA is hosting a pop-up padel experience for fans to play with friends, family and some very special guests at the Formula 1 circuit.
The pop-up court aims to introduce new audiences of all ages and abilities to padel and encourage more people to pick up a racket and play at their nearest courts.
The court is based in the Family Zone at the Silverstone circuit throughout the weekend and will feature guest appearances from stars of British padel including British No.1 Tia Norton, Louie Harris, Catherine Rose, Aimee Gibson and Francis Langan.
The players will also be taking to the Drivers Inn stage each morning to give fans a fun padel-based warm-up to kick-start the day.
Padel is a very popular sport among many of the drivers on the grid. Ferrari stars Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz have been known to play against each other in their spare time away from the racetrack – as featured in the Netflix series, ‘Drive to Survive’.
Padel fever has taken over at many of the other teams as well, with Maclaren’s Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri also big fans of the sport, as well as two-time champion Fernando Alonso and American Logan Sargent.
