Padel courts will be included in a major UK residential property development for the first time after Game4Padel teamed up with Berkeley Group.

The joint venture will be launched at Berkeley’s West London development, The Green Quarter in Southall, one of London’s largest regeneration developments, where the first courts will open this spring.

Nearly half of the 88-acre Green Qaurter site already comprises green space for residents and the local community to enjoy being active. Berkeley’s commitment to facilitating an outdoor, healthy lifestyle will now see it add three Game4Padel courts to the area.

Anyone wishing to use the courts can sign up to play via Game4Padel.com. The new courts will complement the regular activities already available, including nearby 4.5-acre Central Gardens which boasts various fitness stations, a weekly ParkPlay session held at The Green Quarter and a weekly local parkrun in Southall. A network of new cycle paths and walkways also allows easy access to 90-acre Minet Country Park and nearby 1.2km waterside trail along the Grand Union Canal from the development.

Padel has helped create communities in other areas around the UK including a court which was erected in Tower Hill by Game4Padel and the Central London Alliance to help regenerate The City post-Covid. At Bloom Heathrow and Edinburgh Park Parabola – business parks in West London and Edinburgh respectively – Game4Padel installed and operates padel clubs to help build networks with resident businesses.

Michael Gradon, CEO of Game4Padel, commented: “This is a game-changing partnership for Game4Padel. We have already opened 23 venues in the UK and overseas, and have ambitious plans and funding in place to expand the sport of padel further. This first project with the Berkeley Group is exciting because the potential to introduce padel across their residential developments could mean a much faster roll out of the sport, helping us achieve our goal of nearly 400 padel courts in the UK by 2027.”

James Purton, Operations Director at Berkeley Group, added: “The benefits of padel are widely known – it is a great mental and physical work out and is popular with players of all ages. Padel has also proven to be more than just a sport; it’s a catalyst for creating vibrant communities and fostering social connections.

2As an avid player myself I have seen first-hand how it brings people together and will provide an opportunity for a new generation of padel players. We believe it will be an excellent addition to the wide-ranging facilities we offer residents at The Green Quarter and the local area, and the benefit of working with Game4Padel is that they really invest in ensuring their venues are busy and well-used long after they have opened.”

Game4Padel is the UK’s leading padel operator with 23 venues and the only UK National operator with clubs in England, Wales and Scotland as well as Spain, Australia and New Zealand. The company boasts high profile investors including Andy and Jamie Murray, Virgil van Dijk, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Jamie Vardy and Annabel Croft.
