Social Sports Society will open its first community padel venue this week – right underneath the iconic arch of the world famous Wembley Stadium!
The three-court venue is within a goal kick of Wembley BOXPARK, London Designer Outlet and Wembley Stadium itself. It will be opening this Thursday (16 May) and will feature snack bar and social area with comfy seating.
Social Sports Society, newcomers to the UK padel scene, secured the Wembley site from developers Quintain Living last year. Its courts were supplied by MejorSet, the official court supplier of the Premier Padel tour.
The company is looking to open two further (probably bigger) venues by the end of 2024, with locations to be revealed in the coming months.
Social Sports Society’s ethos is ‘community first’ – which will include partnerships with local schools, free play sessions, women’s sessions, partnerships with local businesses and working with local ambassadors (or ‘people connectors’) to maximise local participation. Their vision is a multi-sports offer in each community they serve, which will be built around local demand.
Francesca Specter, Head of Marketing & PR for Social Sports Society, told The Padel Paper: “It’s all about spreading the word out to the largest possible demographic rather than making ourselves an elite club.
“We will be responsive to whatever the demands may be in the local community and make it as affordable to play as we possibly can.”
Social Sports Society was founded by Jesper Konstantinov, a London-based entrepreneur with a history of connecting urban communities through innovate social spaces.
“Padel is one of the most fun, accessible sports,” he said. “It can be played at any level, it’s easy to learn and has a unique ability to bring together a cross-section of society.”
Court bookings for Social Sports Society’s Wembley padel club are being taken now via Playtomic.
