GB’s finest padel talent will compete with a stellar European line-up at this week’s FIP RISE Stratford in east London.

Stratford Padel Club is hosting its second annual FIP RISE event and several players ranked inside the world’s top 120 are signed up to compete.

A tasty-looking duel in the men’s first round sees GB no.1 Christian Medina Murphy and partner Alberto Jimenez face GB no.3 Louie Harris and UK-based Spaniard Rafael Vega.

Nikhil Mohindra and Sam MacNeil line up against Pier Giulio Farabbi and Xavi Rodriguez Vila in round one, but before that there is a host of Brits ready to try to battle through qualifying.

There is plenty of home interest in the women’s draw too – led by GB no.2 Tia Norton and Dutch partner Stephanie Weterings – the partnership that reached the final of the FIP RISE Sassuolo in Italy three weeks ago.

A prize fund of €12,500 is up for grabs across the men’s and women’s event, with qualifying rounds beginning on Wednesday 9 October, before the main draw begins in earnest on Friday 11 October.

Saturday will see the entire 2nd round and quarter-final ties being played, with the semi-finals and finals of both draws to be played on Sunday 13th.

As with last year’s event, the FIP will be completely free for spectators to attend and no ticket or registration is required. The kitchen will be open daily from the morning right through til the evening.

Sam Mole, Tournament Director, said: “We’re excited to be hosting the second edition of FIP Rise Stratford after the success of 2023’s inaugural event. The tournament will see some of the most promising players from across Europe and beyond travelling to London to compete alongside several leading GB squad players and up and coming players from around the UK. Please do come on down and take advantage of this rare opportunity to watch world class padel being played here in London for free!”
