British No.1 Christian Medina Murphy collected a fourth career FIP Tour title at the FIP Bronze Hong Kong II last weekend.

Teaming up with his usual Spanish partner Alberto Garcia Jimenez, the second seeds battled their way to a third trophy together without losing a set.

Medina Murphy and Jimenez beat third seeds Thijs Roper and Sten Richters in the semi-finals 6-2, 6-4 before toppling top seeds Gustavo Nunes and Miguel Angel Solbes in the final 6-4, 6-4.

The FIP Tour is the first stage of the professional padel circuit — with four different levels of events, Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum — sitting below Premier Padel.

“We’re really happy to win another FIP tournament,” said the British No.1. “After an amazing start to the season, the last couple of tournaments weren’t at our usual level so this win is really positive for us.

“We’re going to keep this level now into the coming tournaments and see if we can break into the top 100 soon.”

Last week Christian and Alberto made the semi-finals of the FIP Bronze Kuala Lumpur and recently made the quarter-finals of the Premier Padel Cancun – the best result from a British padel player ever.

Christian and Alberto next head to Spain this week to play in the FIP Bronze San Juan de Alicante before moving on to another FIP Bronze in Agrigento, Italy.

“I want to say thanks to the LTA for their amazing support and to R3 – without them it’s impossible to play these tournaments and improve my ranking,” he said.

Last week, Medina Murphy was also named Male Padel Player of the Year at the LTA Awards, presented by Lexus. GB no.1 Aimee Gibson won the Female award.

“Thank you for the award as Male Player of the Year,” Christian added. “We’re going to keep this level now into the coming tournaments and see if we can break into the top 100 soon.”
