The infrastructure around recreational padel in the UK continues to develop with Padel London launching box leagues for players across the capital.

The leagues are divided into East and West London, with three levels in each: beginner, intermediate and advanced.

Once both teams have entered a result, each team’s performance statistics and the league tables are immediately updated.

Padel London adds two bonus points for teams who complete all their matches and there are prizes for the best performing teams at the end of each box league round.

Each round last three months and at the end, the top two teams are promoted and the bottom two are relegated. Teams arrange their own matches and split court costs. The league costs only £5 to enter.

Padel London, founded by Spaniard David Segura-Pravia, aims to stimulate padel participation and competition and help to grow the sport.

“We are facilitating competitive padel and growing the sport across London,” said Segura-Pravia. “We are giving players and non-players the tools to play and meet new people.”

Padel London organise tournaments across London (including the recent event in Epsom sponsored by The Padel Paper) and already have eight scheduled at various clubs for 2023.

They have six WhatsApp groups with over 700 players on them through which competitions and matches are arranged. The new box leagues will take that one stage further by building up a history of performance stats for each pairing.

“It makes it much more than just playing a game and going home,” says Segura-Pravia. “The platform supports your development as a pair, gives lots of data and offers everyone a platform where their performances are put into context.”

Padel London also builds courts and sell equipment and are always looking for partners in order to grow their services. “Our business model is very collaborative,” says the company founder.

“We have got the tools, the knowledge and we work tirelessly to make this successful. Padel is a modern, visually attractive, addictive racket sport and we can help it grow even stronger.”
