Padel is being viewed as an ideal vehicle for networking by a community of young executives in Manchester.
Manchester Young Professionals (MYP), established in 2013, is an inclusive and accessible community for progressive, like-minded professionals in their 20s and 30s. The organisation holds regular social events at diverse venues around the city to get people together from across different industries.
MYP took 20 young executives to The Padel Club in Wilmslow on 25 January for an intro coaching session, some matchplay and soft drinks at the venue’s plush cabin bar.
The excursion was part of MVP’s programme of social, health and wellbeing events. Such was its success, they immediately booked the club out again on 5 April – and tickets sold out in one day!
MYP have now extended their relationship with The Padel Club to an annual partnership to be able to offer it to more members of its community.
MYP co-founder Rich Tyrrell said: “Padel is an informal way for people to meet, that is fun and great for your health too!
“There’s always going to be a place for events in food and beverage venues – but today more than ever our community like to do things that are different and don’t perhaps involve alcohol, so this is perfect!”
Rich is one of several MYP members who have returned to The Padel Club independently since that first session. “Those of us who’ve been able to get a court that is!” he says.
“We’ve definitely got the bug! We knew straight away it would resonate with the MYP community. Connecting with others, trying new things and doing things to promote physical and mental wellbeing are all key to what we do.”
