New York City is getting its second padel club this summer after Padel Haus signed a lease on a 24,000 sq ft warehouse in the shadows of the Manhattan and Brooklyn bridges.

Padel Haus, which opened New York’s first padel club in Williamsburg last July, have already started renovating the new site at 257 Water Street in the Brooklyn neighbourhood of Dumbo.

The new facility will bring padel to a new district of New York, and one with a diverse, cosmopolitan population.

Like the Williamsburg Club, the new Padel Haus facility will include four indoor courts, a juice bar, an outdoor terrace, premium locker rooms and rain showers. The club will have nearly 30-feet-high-ceilings.

Padel Haus was founded by renowned entrepreneur Santiago Gomez, a former investment banker for UBS and co-founder of the New York Times and World’s 50 Best Restaurant-award-winning Cosme.

As a long-time padel player from his native Mexico, Gomez identified the opportunity to open a club dedicated to padel to capitalise on the world’s fastest-growing sport.

Gomez, Founder CEO of Padel Haus, said: “When we launched Padel Haus in Williamsburg last July, the ambition was to grow the company to become the market-leading padel operator in the U.S. with further sites in New York and across the north east.

“Given the success of our first club in Williamsburg, which has welcomed more than 7,000 players since opening, it felt right to bring padel to different communities in New York City, and where better than in an iconic neighbourhood like Dumbo, which has plenty of similarities to our initial club, yet at the same time will have its own distinct personality.

“The club will cater even better to our Lower Manhattan players who will be able to reach the location in under 10 minutes from New York’s City Hall and the Seaport. Dumbo is an ideal neighbourhood for our offering, brimming with independent businesses, start-ups and a diverse population – which reflects the global sport of padel itself so well.

“Following our successful recent Series A fundraising round, we believe the time is ripe to bring padel to more people across more communities in the United States, and that begins with our second club in New York, with further clubs to be announced soon.”
