Elite-level padel is a whole new ball game in 2024 – and the new-look Premier Padel and Cupra FIP tours have revealed how the new ranking system will work.

The merging of the now-defunct World Padel Tour and Premier Padel into one, unified tour – called Premier Padel, governed by the International Padel Federation (FIP) – will make the pro game easier to understand for fans and simpler for players to measure their progress on one world ranking.

After the release of the 2024 competition calendar before Christmas, FIP and Premier Padel (together with the Professional Padel Association and the International Padel Players’ Association) have released details of how each player will accumulate ranking points, depending on which level of the tour they play.

Premier Padel operate the top four tiers of tournaments – Majors, P1 and P2 tournaments, plus the season-ending finals in December.

Most British players ply their trade lower down the pyramid on the Cupra FIP circuit, which is divided into six categories: Platinum, Gold, Star, Rise and Promotion. The FIP tour will also end with a final where the best players participate.

As above, here is how ranking point will be awarded this season onwards:

  1. Premier Padel Major (four events)
Winners: 2000 points; finalists: 1200 points
  2. Premier Padel Finals (season-ending event)
    Winners: 1500 points
  3. Premier Padel P1 (12 events)
Winners: 1000 points; finalists: 600 points
  4. Premier Padel P2 (10 events)
Winners: 500 points; finalists: 300 points
  5. FIP Platinum
Winners: 200 points; finalists: 120 points
  6. FIP Finals
Winners: 150 points; finalists: 90 points
  7. FIP Gold
Winners: 100 points; finalists: 60 points
  8. FIP Star
Winners: 50 points; finalists: 30 points
  9. FIP Rise
Winners: 25 points; finalists: 15 points
  10. FIP Promotion
Winners: 10 points; finalists: 6 points

Rankings will be calculated on the 22 best results achieved by players in the Premier Padel and Cupra Fip Tour tournaments.

This year’s rankings will include point retained from 2023. The total points of the 2023 ranking for each player will be divided over 50 weeks, subtracting the same amount of points from each player weekly from 15 January 2024 until the end of the season on 22 December 22, 2024.
