One of the newest padel facilities in Great Britain is opening their doors in September to host a grade one LTA event between 10th-11th September.
Jersey’s Island Padel was founded by former Wimbledon tennis player Scott Clayton, who has become very passionate about the game. His purpose for the venture was to provide Islanders with the opportunity to learn and play this new sport.
With Scott’s background in performance tennis, he felt it is important to attract a very strong tournament to the island, hopefully involving some of the best padel players Great Britain has to offer.
The facility officially opened its doors in May of this year and after a £1 million spend to construct three indoor courts and two outdoor courts, it is one of the larger padel facilities in the United Kingdom.
Island Padel is backed by Rathbones and together they have funded a huge £4,000 prize pot for the tournament – which includes a men’s open draw, ladies Open draw, a men’s veterans 45-plus draw and ladies veterans 45-plus draw.
Scott said “I would love to see as many players as possible come over to Jersey. Not only so they can play at our facility, but also so that the local community can see what high-class padel looks like.”
Island Padel places family ethos at the forefront, so Scott’s hope is that some players will travel to the Island with friends and family to see what else Jersey has to offer.
If you would like to enter the tournament, please visit the LTA website and sign up.
