Slazenger are to open their first UK padel club in Leeds on 11 October with the wheels already in motion on a further 11 locations.
Slazenger Padel Clubs are backed by Frasers Group, the UK’s largest retail group, which owns the likes of Sports Direct, House of Fraser, Everlast Gyms and Jack Wills.
Their first club is located in Seacroft, north east of Leeds city centre, in a site that had been set to open in April after the planning application was originally made last November. However, the city council did not approve the application until late July.
The Leeds club will have 12 panoramic courts with black turf, two of which will have competition-spec run-off areas and court-side seating, plus huge social areas, interactive features including automatic ball feeders, changing rooms and food and beverage facilities.
A source for Slazenger told The Padel Paper: “We’re highly confident this will be the best facility in the UK to date.
“Slazenger has an illustrious rackets heritage and brings a wealth of experience from the health and fitness industry from our Everlast Gym brand.
“Frasers Group have aspirations to become the UK’s no.1 padel operator and certainly have the right DNA and expertise to achieve that objective.”
