Smash Padel have made what might be the first acquisition in the UK padel club scene by taking over MVP in Oxford.
MVP, based at Oxford Sports LTC in the North Hinksey suburb of Oxford, has three floodlight panoramic courts. Smash Padel saw an opportunity to enhance the venue’s facilities and programmes and add it to its portfolio of clubs, which is set to expand to five very soon.
Smash Padel opened its inaugural club in Bicester last year, building starts on another in Whitstable in May and further clubs in Kent and Cardiff will open in the coming months.
Rupert Taylor CEO of Smash Padel, said: “The MVP team has quickly established a fantastic site in Oxford. We are excited to build on this thriving community with the introduction of Smash Padel coaching, tournaments, socials and more. Initially there will be little change, beyond some more opportunities to play and some new Smash Padel faces on site to support players.
“Over time we have plans to further develop the site to improve the facilities for both playing, spectating, and socialising to enhance the community.”
Smash Padel has a particular passion for increasing junior participation, which will be a big focus at MVP.
Carson Russell, Chief Commercial Officer at Smash Padel, added: “We can’t wait to add to the excellent coaching at MVP with our own sessions and programmes.
“This will include activities for all ages and abilities, not least our junior pathway which is already beginning to deliver success at Bicester.”
