Ray Brinkmanis, co-CEO at Padel Alba, tells The Padel Paper why The Padel Hub’s latest venue in Whetstone, north London, is uniquely suited to exponents of padel’s go-to shot, the lob.

As a passionate padel player, I’ve always found the lob to be one of the most best strategic shots in the game. Whether you’re using it to push your opponent to the back of the court or reset a rally, the lob can shift the momentum of a match in your favour.

But nothing is more frustrating than seeing your perfect lob hit the ceiling of an indoor court. That’s why I’m particularly excited about our latest project at Padel Hub N20 in Whetstone — a truly unique venue with 15-metre-high ceilings, designed to enhance every aspect of the game, including lob shots.

What makes Whetstone Padel Hub unique?

Whetstone Padel Hub is much more than just another padel venue. It stands out as a premium centre in the UK padel scene, offering six high-performance indoor courts all supplied by Padel Alba. Partnering with Charles Winterton, founder of The Padel Hub, we worked closely to ensure that every player enjoys the best possible experience on these courts. At Padel Alba, we pride ourselves on providing courts of the highest quality, built using top-tier materials that ensure durability, safety and a premium playing surface.

But Whetstone isn’t just about the courts. The venue will also offer a café, bar, lounge, gym, padel shop, and changing rooms, creating a comprehensive padel destination where players can enjoy the sport, relax and socialise.

Padel Alba’s commitment to quality

As padel grows in the UK, players are looking for facilities with a difference. At Padel Alba, we don’t believe in cutting corners. We design and deliver courts that cater to high-level play, ensuring that players of all skill levels can perform at their best. Our courts are built to last, while still offering the perfect playing surface for fast-paced, competitive matches.

With Whetstone’s 15-metre-high ceilings, players can enjoy the freedom of a full range of shots, including high lobs, without worrying about hitting the roof. It’s the kind of attention to detail that sets Whetstone apart, and we’re proud that Padel Alba courts are at the centre of it all.

A game-changer for padel enthusiasts

For players like me, who enjoy a diverse range of shots, including the lob, Whetstone Padel Hub is more than just a place to play; it’s a venue that enhances your game. Knowing that you can focus fully on strategy, without the worry of ceiling restrictions, opens up new possibilities for gameplay.

Whether you’re an experienced player or new to the sport, Whetstone Padel Hub offers a unique and unparalleled playing environment. I’m proud to have been involved in this project with Padel Alba, ensuring that the highest quality courts are delivered to make this venue a reality. With its premium courts, state-of-the-art facilities and player-first design, Whetstone is setting a new standard for padel in the UK.
