We Are Padel Derby is teaming up with a charity which supports local athletes with Olympic and Paralympic potential for a 24-hour padel match.

The padel community can book half-hour slots between 8am on 5 July and 8am the following morning to take on aspiring professional athletes from Derbyshire Institute of Sport as well as members of the We Are Padel team (full details here).

The event will also feature a Q&A session with the young athletes and a talk from Lead Sport Psychologist Dr Phil Clarke about the most effective (and legal) performance-enhancing drug: sleep!

There will be stations around the venue where the community can test themselves against athletes on multiple markers.

Pupils from five local schools will also be enjoying free padel sessions and will get the chance to speak to Olympians and former world champions.

We Are Padel Derby manager Sam McKibbin said: “This event shows our love of bringing opportunities and experiences to our padel community, creating unforgettable memories for everyone.

“We also believe that it is so important that young players have no barriers when playing sport, so our goal is to always ensure that kids get onto the padel court for free.

“At We Are Padel we are all about growing the sport and inspiring the next generation, which is why we are delighted to be partnering with Derbyshire Institute of Sport who are helping us create real change in the region by giving access to our country’s future stars.”
