The Ooredoo Qatar Major in Doha will be the launch event for the new 2023 Premier Padel season.
The tournament will take place between February 26 – March 5 at the Khalifa International Tennis & Squash complex.
Launched in February 2022, Premier Padel will stage up to 10 tournaments in 2023, including four ‘Majors’.
The tournaments included in Premier Padel are split into three categories: four Majors, the P1 and P2 tournaments, with the top pairings qualifying for the season-ending finals.
The four ‘Majors’ are similar to the Grand Slam championships in tennis and are the flagship events of the Premier Padel tour which debuted in 2022. The ‘Majors’ will be held in Qatar, Italy, France and Mexico with the winners earning 2000 ranking points.
Plans for 2024 will see Premier Padel host up to 30 tournaments annually as the Tour continues to grow the sport in new territories.
Last year’s events at the Foro Italico and Roland Garros complemented Premier Padel tournaments across South America, Africa and the Middle East. The full 2023 season schedule is expected to be released imminently.
Premier Padel is the professional padel tour governed by the International Padel Federation (FIP) and backed by the Professional Padel Association (PPA).
The Ooredoo Qatar Major Premier Padel will be broadcast around the world in more than 180 territories with Sky Sports providing exclusive coverage for the UK.
